Hybrid Virtual and In-Person Walk & Talk Therapy in Cambridge, MA
What is Walk & Talk Therapy?
Walk & talk therapy combines the benefits of traditional therapy with the grounding, relaxing effects of nature, movement, and in-person connection.
Walk & talk therapy sessions are currently offered as a hybrid option for individual clients, with intermittent in-person outdoor sessions alternating with regular telehealth video sessions at a frequency collaboratively determined based on your unique therapeutic journey and situation.
Why Choose Walk & Talk Therapy?
A Different Kind of Space: In a world of increased use of screens and devices, intermittent walk & talk sessions conducted outdoors in nature can be a powerful complementary addition to ongoing virtual therapy. Many find walking side by side can also feel less intimidating compared to sitting face to face, allowing for more ease in working through difficult material.
Mind-Body Connection: Research has shown that movement can help reduce stress, improve mood, and bring a greater sense of presence. For many, walking can also help one’s thoughts and emotions flow more easily.
Nature’s Support: Being outdoors in nature can bring a sense of grounding, freedom, and perspective that can deepen the therapy experience.
What To Expect:
Sessions will take place a park and/or other walking path in the Cambridge, Massachusetts area. Exact location for each session will be collaboratively chosen by client and therapist based on logistics and other relevant factors.
We will walk at a pace that feels comfortable for you, with possible options to sit for parts of the session in some locations.
The focus will remain on your therapy goals, just as in a regular session.
Please Note:
Walk & talk sessions are weather-dependent. If outdoor conditions are not safe or comfortable, scheduled walk & talk sessions are converted into a virtual telehealth session.
As the sessions will take place in a public outdoor space, complete confidentiality cannot be guaranteed. Though every attempt will be made to not engage in private conversations when others are in close proximity, it will not be possible to guarantee during walk & talk sessions that conversations will not be heard by others.
Who It’s For:
Walk & talk therapy can be especially helpful if you:
Feel more comfortable processing emotions while moving.
Enjoy being outdoors and want to reduce your time spent sitting indoors.
Are seeking a new way to engage in your therapeutic journey.
Prefer a mix of in-person outdoor and flexible telehealth options.
